Hello there! As the sun is out, join Adhira and Z in harvesting the power and magic of its summer rays by creating light-sensitive Cyanotype prints for the “Queer Ecology Archive”. 

Think of this session as a creative crash course on one of the earliest methods of photography, Cyanotype printing. The process is simple enough to be broken down into 4 sections of tasks - first, the careful selection of the subject you wish to capture, second, the curation of your frame & composition, third, sun exposure, and fourth, rinse & tone! 

The session will follow the same flow and technique, complemented by conversations and storytelling around the significance behind the artform and the host’s relationship to it. The art of Cyanotype printing, much like modern photography, is one that has the ability to capture time, through its sensitivity to sunlight, shade, exposure(s) & the subject, therefore, the site itself. These parameters will be the primary ones used to connect ourselves and our print to the ecology around us. 

If you are already familiar with the technique and/or are feeling creative to use base materials other than paper, feel free to bring your own projects that could use a little bit of the Cyano-magic.
